For Read Across American Day, each of my students chose their favorite book, dressed up as their favorite story book charachter, and talked about their book. The objective of my lesson was to have my students retell their story by identifying the literary elements. The students have been working hard on thinking about what they are reading in order to understand and respond to a text. One way they do this is to identify the parts of a book; for instance the title and author. They also identify important events from a story; such as, charachters, setting, the beginning, middle, and end of a story. This was a great day for my students to practice the skills they have been learning in order to become more fluent readers.

Family Fun Night!

Wow...It's that time of year again. Family Fun Night is scheduled for Friday, May 20th. We will be sending home information soon on this event. As a reminder, we need many volunteers to make this night a success. Please mark your calendars with this date and come out to have some fun.

Dear Parents and Families,

We just wanted to take a moment and convey to you just how much your continued support of our book fairs means to our library, school, and most importantly to our students. 

Each year we have at least two book fairs, one in the spring and one in the fall. Scholastic book fairs give us the opportunity to raise funds for our library to purchase books, equipment, supplies, and materials. Here are just a few photos of items that we recently purchased for our library.
