TSD Online Academy
At the start of the 2020-2021 school year, the Tuscarora School District promised the community an online program that would be continuously improved to better serve the district's needs during the pandemic. Our rationale for continuing an online program may have changed as we look to the upcoming school year, but our commitment to creating the best in-house program possible for our Rocket students has not. After several updates inspired by student, family, and teacher feedback, we are excited to announce the third year of the TSD Online Academy!
We have listened to the requests of our community, and the TSD Online Academy has been built upon many of those requests, including:
- Offering asynchronous instruction to provide flexibility within the learning day for students and families.
- Utilizing the Imagine Edgenuity Learning Platform for students in 6-12 to create a one-stop-shop for all daily learning assignments.
- Promoting more interaction from teachers by utilizing TSD Teachers for most classes and students and only utilizing outside teachers for specialty courses.
- Offering new and evolving methods of meeting student needs, such as one-on-one virtual and in-person support from teachers, the coordinator, and other school personnel.
- Encouraging all online students to engage in TSD's extracurricular activities (clubs, athletics, dances, etc.) and statewide assessments (PSSAs, Keystones, and SATs) ensures all students meet expectations while learning remotely.
