As the first marking period draws to a close, we wanted to make you aware of some policy adjustments to our Rocket Edge program. It is truly a challenge to deliver instruction across both physical and online classrooms and we are constantly making adjustments to better assure our students receive a high-quality education.

In this presentation we will review adjustments to K through 12 attendance, expectations and consequences for non-participation, and we will talk about late work policies for both elementary and secondary students.

Please be aware that it is expected that all students log in to their Rocket Edge course work everyday to receive credit for attending school. If a student does not participate in the program for two days and if the teacher or main office is not notified, you can expect the teacher and the school to reach out to you to resolve this concern. They could reach out to you in the form of an email, phone call, or letter.

If nonparticipation continues, those days will be considered unexcused absences. After three unexcused absences,  a truancy meeting will be required with your building administrators. Iff non-participation continues after the truancy meeting, the following actions may occur: the student may be removed from the Rocket Edge online program or a truancy citation and fine may be issued.

If your student cannot participate in their online learning due to an illness,  a note must be submitted to the student's building secretary to mark the absence as excuse.  The excuse must state the students full name, grade level, dates, the reason for absence, parent contact information and if a student missed a full day or just specific classes. The parent or guardian has three calendar days from the date of the absence to submit to the note to the building secretary.

We have included the email addresses for each building contact for attendance concerns. Please jot down these emails for your reference.

Our elementary late work policy is as follows: for purposes of the TSD Rocket Edge Online program, a week is considered Monday at 12:01 a.m. through Sunday at 11:59 p.m. Late work can be submitted up to five school days after the weekly due date. At teacher discretion, partial credit will be issued for work submitted up to 5 days after the date. Full credit will be issued for assigned work submitted on or before the due date. Assignments submitted after five school days beyond the due date will not receive credit. If there are extenuating circumstances, families are expected to communicate with the teacher prior to the deadline.

Our secondary late work policy is as follows: again, for the purposes of the TSD Rocket Edge online program, classroom teachers will establish and communicate due dates for all assignments. Late work can be submitted up to five school days after the due date. At teacher discretion, partial credit will be issued for work submitted up to 5 days after the date. Full credit will be issued for assigned work submitted on or before the due date. Assignments submitted after five school days beyond the due date will not receive credit. If there are extenuating circumstances, families are expected to communicate with the teacher prior to the deadline.
